Job Purpose & Summary

The Director of Business Platform Strategy is a highly strategic leadership role responsible for defining the business strategy, requirements, and roadmap for shared capabilities that serve as the foundation of HealthSpire products. This role partners closely with Product, finance, engineering, and other cross‑functional teams to design, build, maintain, and continuously advance reusable capabilities that enable scale, consistency, and innovation across the HealthSpire portfolio.

The Director serves as the business owner for capabilities—ensuring clear business outcomes, strong governance, disciplined execution, and adoption across teams. This role requires deep strategic thinking, strong cross‑functional leadership, and the ability to operate effectively at the intersection of business and technology.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

Capability Strategy & Roadmap Development

  • Partner with Product Owners across the HealthSpire portfolio to understand product vision, priorities, and capability needs.
  • Deeply understand the member experience across the products, and drive the strategy for a consolidated experience.
  • Translate individual product needs into a strategic consolidated capability strategy, identifying opportunities to build once and leverage across multiple products.
  • Define and maintain a prioritized, continuously managed capability backlog, using strong judgment to make trade‑off decisions, distinguish true business needs from nice‑to‑have requests, and manage stakeholder expectations in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Establish a clear roadmap for current and future capabilities that supports product growth and long‑term platform scalability. Partner with the larger CVS enterprise to understand how larger initiatives could impact or influence our roadmap.

Business Outcomes & Delivery Partnership

  • Define clear business outcomes, success metrics, and targets for each capability initiative.
  • Partner closely with Engineering teams to translate business requirements into executable solutions.
  • Serve as the primary business lead for capability delivery, ensuring alignment on scope, priorities, and outcomes.
  • Oversee quality assurance from a business perspective to ensure delivered capabilities meet defined requirements and objectives.
  • Ensure standardized playbooks, operating procedures, and training materials are developed for each capability. Lead change management efforts to drive adoption and effective use of capabilities across product teams.

Capability Maintenance, Optimization & Advancement

  • Maintain close alignment with Product teams to anticipate changes in product strategy that may require capability enhancements or modifications.
  • Continuously assess existing capabilities to identify opportunities to consolidate, optimize, or retire redundant solutions – in a way that maximizes value.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to leverage automation and AI to enhance capability performance, efficiency, and scalability.

Financial, Scope & Risk Management

  • Own and manage budgets associated with capability initiatives.
  • Clearly define and articulate what is in scope – offering to find alternative solutions or support for scope that is outside your scope.
  • Proactively identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and partner with stakeholders to address issues.
  • Provide transparent and regular updates to business partners and leadership on progress, risks, and outcomes.

People & Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team through direct and indirect management, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment, influencing without direct authority when needed.
  • Establish strong partnerships and drive alignment across business, product, engineering, and technology teams to build consensus and enable successful delivery and adoption of shared capabilities.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Highly strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into executable plans.
  • Proven ability to thrive in cross‑functional, highly collaborative environments.
