Position Highlights:

  • Position: Manager, Laboratory Point of Care
  • Hourly Pay Range: $37.85 - $72.52. The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate’s expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
  • Location: Northwest Community Hospital (NCH) Immediate Care Out Patient Care Center-primary office located in the Buffalo Grove Out Patient Care Center Location. 15 S. McHenry Road Buffalo Grove, IL.
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm
  • Required Travel: Yes. Must travel to all four NCH Immediate Care Centers (Buffalo Grove, Kildeer, Mt. Prospect, and Schaumburg) and main Northwest Community Hospital campus, now EndeavorHealth, once a week.

What you will need:

·    License: N/A

·    Education: Bachelors of Science in Medical Technology or Clinical Sciences. 4 year degree in chemical, biological, clinical, medical lab science or medical technology from an accredited institution, Must fulfill the role of a Technical Consultant for a moderate complexity lab. with at least 4 years laboratory training or experience in nonwaived testing in hematology and chemistry.

·    Certification:  ASCP or equivalent

·    Experience: At least 4 years laboratory training or experience in nonwaived testing in hematology and chemistry.

     Skills: Ability and drive to solve practical problems

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Project management skills, including the ability to track and manage inventory
  • Excellent multitasking skills
  • Ability to type 40 words/minute and well operate in Microsoft Office, Excel and Powerpoint 

What you will do:

  • Adheres to CLIA, Cap, TJC regulatory guidelines at all times in the laboratory

    Performs and /or oversees daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual maintenance   of all applicable equipment according to manufacturer guidelines
  • Reviews results, instrument printouts, quality control data, corrective actions and follows up accordingly
  • Reviews lab variances, incidents and customer complaints and follows up
  • Works with Patient Relations department to investigate complaints
  • Oversees all phlebotomists and clinical staff (nurses and medical assistants) performing moderate and waived testing.

  • Responsible for training and competencies for staff, identifies areas of needed training or re-training of staff
  • Develops, reviews and updates policies and technical procedures for all areas of the laboratory
  • Maintains a quality control and quality assurance program that meets the requirements of the laboratory accreditation program.
  • Responsible for participating in proficiency testing program and maintaining enrollment
  • Prepares and maintains labs in an inspection ready state
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees
  • Recruits, interviews and selects new candidates for role of Phlebotomist
  • Counsels and disciplines employees as needed to achieve organizations mission
  • Implements new tests, processes, methods and instrumentation
  • Completes and presents performance evaluations to staff
  • Responsible for inventory management of 4 departments, ensuring adequate supply levels

What you will need:

  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • 5+ Years experience in a clinical laboratory or hospital setting required.
  • 1 Year supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
