Job Description

The Position

We are looking for an experienced Senior C++ Engineer to join our software development team focused on motion control for electron microscope systems. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions, primarily in modern C++, while contributing to related software components in C# where appropriate.

As a senior technical contributor, you will play a key role in shaping the software architecture, driving engineering best practices, mentoring team members, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, including software, hardware, and firmware engineers, as well as external contractors and third-party suppliers.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software for motion control in electron microscope systems.
  • Develop primarily in modern C++, with contributions to C# where appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize software in simulation and on hardware.
  • Develop automated tests and maintain technical documentation.
  • Drive software architecture and contribute to the technical roadmap.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and firmware teams, as well as external partners.
  • Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.
  • Contribute innovative ideas and support continuous improvement.
  • Work in compliance with applicable quality standards and the Integrated Management System (IMS).

Requirements

  • Extensive professional software development experience in Agile environments.
  • Strong proficiency in modern C++ (C++17 or later preferred).
  • Experience with C# is an advantage.
  • Experience with motion control, hardware or firmware integration, robotics, or similar domains is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and engineering best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Fluent English (minimum B2).
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
