Bristol Myers Squibb has been in operation in Ireland since 1964, employing over 650 people across a range of activities and business units.
Ireland is home to External manufacturing’s global headquarters, the business unit responsible for the management of manufacturing contract operations (CMO’s) and ensuring reliable supply of product to patients across the Bristol Myers Squibb global network.
This includes management of, and working in conjunction with, third party contract manufacturers and internal manufacturing sites. In Ireland, External Manufacturing has two sites; Global Headquarters based in Dublin 15 and a distribution centre in Shannon, Co Clare.

The Role
BMS External Manufacturing is looking to recruit on a permanent Contract an Associate Director, Supply Chain ExM reporting to Director, Supply Chain ExM.
- Accountable for ensuring continuity of supply to our internal and external customers.
- Provides Leadership and strategic direction to the Business Unit Supply Chain teams responsible for Supply Chain Project Management & CMO Supply Chain relationship management.
- Responsible for implementing and rolling out of standard ways of working across the BU Supply Chain organization.
- Represent Supply Chain on the External Manufacturing Business Unit Leadership teams
- Represents the Business Unit on the Global Supply Chain Planning process and ensuring alignment between the strategic direction of the network and the short, medium and long term planning
- Accountable for management of the relationship with the Customer and supplier Supply chain Director
Based on your function, department or individual position, you will have the opportunity to discuss with your Manager the option to work remotely up to 50% of the time, over a two-week period, with the flexibility to choose the days that align with your collaboration needs
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Represents Supply Chain on the Business Unit leadership team - Provides sound, firm and decisive leadership to the Busines Supply Chain team and drives and deliver results for continuous improvement within the overall Business Unit
- Develops and communicates the Business Unit Supply Chain Vision & Mission, aligned with the Business Unit, External Manufacturing and GPS strategies.
- Responsible for developing and rolling out of standard ways of working across the BU Supply Chain organization.
- Driving performance improvements in key operations KPIs to assure sustained business performance from contract supply base. Provide regular management updates on supply chain performance metrics and project status.
- Partnering with Business Unit lead to support BU objectives and drive performance improvements.
- Accountable for the management of the Site Coordinator roles across all EMEA finishing sites.
- Championing, developing and implementing supply chain initiatives which will reduce complexity and aid decision making.
- Supporting BMS global initiatives to change the business, and leads key strategic projects - for example portfolio rationalization through product deletions & divestitures.
- Actively participate in and roll out of multiple BMS Global Supply Chain transformational initiatives.
- Objectives setting for the team & providing performance feedback. Team development and management.
- Develops people in technical, leadership and interpersonal skills. Provides development and diversity opportunities for the their teams
- Maintain/develop and maintain strong relationships with supply chain counterparts at internal and external contractors to facilitate continuous performance improvement.
- Provide supply chain leadership for product introduction and transfer projects from contractors, ensuring External Manufacturing capability to meet all supply requirements.
- Represent External Manufacturing through the Global Integrated Planning Process. Accountable for external supply decisions that are included into this process to ensure continuity of supply & Customer Service targets are achieved.
- Responsible for the implementation of global supply chain procedures and development and implementation of local supply chain procedures as necessary.
- Ensuring compliance with GDP, EHS & SOX regulations, policies, procedures & directives.
- Participate in and represent SC at Quality Council, MRB, Data Governance, GDP boards as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required:
- In addition to the core competencies of Leadership; Innovation, Communication skills, Teamwork, Problem Solving and a Commitment to Quality and Compliance, the job holder will require excellent negotiation skills
- Knowledge of supply chain concepts and practices in Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic, Food or FMCG industries
- Knowledge of technology, ERP, materials planning and financial controls transfer pricing and cGMP/GDP regulatory requirements
- Working knowledge of personal computer applications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sciences or Engineering. Master’s Degree preferred and APICS Certification desirable.
- Must have at least ten (10) years of experience in combination of Supply Chain & Manufacturing roles, with at least five (5) years of
- managerial experience in functional planning roles.
- Specific experience in Materials Management in a manufacturing environment with multiple Supply Chain links is required.
- Capable of building alignment with business partners including Quality, Manufacturing & Sourcing.
- Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Highly results oriented.
- In-depth knowledge and exposure to Supply Chain within pharmaceutical scenarios and highly developed Project Management skills.
- Knowledge of federal and local regulatory requirements such as FDA, DEA, DOT, MSDS, Health Department, FTZ, excise taxes, licenses.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English.
- Knowledge of PC’s (Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of SAP highly desirable.
- Strong business sense and proven innovation and administrative skills; understanding of and the capability to support both financial and
- total quality objectives, to organize working plans and follow up on progress.
- Proven ability to exercise accurate judgment and being able to evaluate information critically and decide upon and to implement an
- appropriate course of action.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to develop and maintain effective professional relations with colleagues at all levels
- across the organization;
- Ability to integrate actions toward objectives.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities and meet closely spaced, ambitious timelines.
- Proven strong leadership skills; ability and commitment for independent work with minimal supervision, while maintaining effective
- communication and interactions with superiors and colleagues at all stages of a project.
- Ability to lead large scale change. Must have a winning attitude, resilience, commitment to goals and a strong sense of collaboration.
