Provides administrative and clerical support to a funeral home, cemetery, crematory or a combination of these facilities. Duties include greeting the public and providing general information on services offered in a polite manner with a goal to meet and exceed customer expectations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Prepare and process death certificates accurately and on time
  • Support multiple mortuaries across the market, including coverage when other DC Clerks are on vacation
  • Work directly with doctors’ offices daily to obtain required medical information and secure physician signatures
  • Handle all information with discretion and confidentiality
  • Track the progress of each death certificate and provide real-time updates to location management and arrangers
  • Collaborate with location management, funeral arrangers, and support staff to gather information for death certificates
  • Experienced in working with Excel and Google Docs
  • Responsible for filing and amending records for multiple locations and for ordering death certificates
  • Perform other duties as assigned by market management
  • Bilingual skills preferred

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years EDRS (Electronic Death Registration System) experience
  • Strong technical and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across locations
  • Professional discretion in all communications
  • Advanced user in HMIS and Compass software proficiency
  • Valid driver license with reliable transportation

Education

  • High School or equivalent

Experience

  • 1 - 2 years of experience in an office clerical or customer service capacity required 
  • Experience working in a customer-focused and fast-paced professional environment required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of office equipment including computers, calculators, copiers, printers, and fax machines at a level consistent with experience
  • MS Office Suite experience preferred
  • Basic mathematics skills required
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • High level of compassion and integrity
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Compensation:

Salary: $18.00/hr.- $22.00/hr.
