PRIMARY FUNCTION

The T-38 A/B/C Egress Mechanic maintains aircraft egress systems including Martin-Baker US16T ejection seats, canopies, hatches, and modules; explosive components; subsystems; Personal Survival Pack (PSP), and all related Support Equipment (SE).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs operational and functional tests of egress systems, subsystems, and components using test equipment and test kits.

  • Ensures egress explosive Cartridge Activated Devices (CAD) and Pressure Activated Devices (PAD) are safe and disarmed prior to performing maintenance.

  • Performs integrity inspections of the escape system.

  • Inspects egress systems, subsystems, and components for safety, security, and serviceability.

  • Inspects and determines serviceability of CAD and PAD devices based on shelf and service life limits.

  • Applies corrosion control procedures to escape systems and related components.

  • Operates and maintains related SE.

  • Advises on and solves installation, maintenance, and repair problems by studying schematic and technical publications.

  • Diagnoses malfunctions and recommends corrective action.

  • Implements maintenance and safety policies for egress systems.

  • Uses the automated maintenance systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and time change database.

  • Uses and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards.

  • May be required to perform maintenance on aircraft, including avionics, mechanical systems, and/or ground support equipment.

  • May include Designated System Inspector (DSI) duties.

  • Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.

  • Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks.

  • Maintain strict tool control procedures. Report missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor. Inventory and inspect tools on a regular basis and replace worn or broken tools.

  • Comply with safety rules and regulations while performing day to day maintenance. Promptly report all accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor.

  • Maintain equipment records. Enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily.

  • The Egress technician will be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge is mandatory of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical principles applying to aircrew egress systems; concepts and application of applicable maintenance directives; and using and interpreting schematic drawings, and technical publications.

  • Intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred.

  • Ability to enter data accurately into databases.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with other crew members.

  • Must possess effective oral and technical written communication skills to clearly communicate information to others.

  • Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.

  • Ability to follow a process.

  • Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.

  • Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills. Ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management.

  • Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to Yulista goals.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.

  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently.

  • Ability to multi-task.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous Air Force Specialty Code 2A653 / 2A673 highly desirable.

  • 5+ years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience with fixed wing commercial, Government or DOD aircraft required.

  • Must have current practical experience on maintaining, servicing, installing Martin Baker MK US16T systems.

  • Experience supporting DoD contracts.

  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field required.

  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airplane and/or Powerplant certification a plus

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.
