Job Summary
- Wellstar Cobb in Austell, Georgia is seeking a FT Weekend Night CT Technologist.
- The days and hours for the position are Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 7:00pm – 7:30am.
- This position will receive evening, night and weekend shift differentials.
- This position will receive CT specialty differential.
- The CT Technologist must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs.
- Must be dependable, accountable and cooperative.
- Assists with providing safe, age‑appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams per department procedures.
- Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study.
- Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative.
- Able to independently perform job functions.
- Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patient for the procedure.
- Position is eligible for Sign On Bonus and Relocation.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Equipment
- Demonstrates ability to adjust technique to ensure the lowest possible ionizing radiation dose while maintaining image quality.
- Reports equipment malfunctions promptly to supervisor or service provider.
- Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment under infection control and department cleaning schedules.
Patient Care
- Verifies proper clinician order for procedure.
- Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data and assesses for contraindicating conditions.
- Follows established procedures for administration of contrast medias.
- Ensures proper patient identification and correct use of right/left markers.
- Reviews CT/radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.
- Responds to emergency situations and maintains crash cart and life support equipment.
- Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed.
- Observes patient condition and evaluates when physician intervention is required.
- Verifies identity of patient using two unique identifiers prior to procedure.
- Ensures patient privacy and comfort; maintains dignity throughout exam/procedure.
- Demonstrates competence in applying appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies and techniques based on patient age.
- Organizes schedule, time and priorities to complete required activities within designated timeframes.
- Follows physicians' instructions when assisting with procedures.
- Demonstrates proficiency with loading and operating power injection.
- Uses critical thinking skills.
- Dialogs with patient/family.
- Asks clarifying questions.
- Seeks clarification on ambiguous orders.
- Understands, demonstrates and documents preprocedural verification and Time Out process when appropriate.
- Demonstrates and understands pre‑ and post‑procedural care.
- Preps the patient for the procedure.
- Demonstrates and understands sterile technique.
- Maintains competency with venipuncture.
Education and Communication
- Explains purpose and nature of exam using AIDET to minimize anxiety and facilitate cooperation.
- Ensures patient questions, concerns or contraindications are addressed; notifies physician when unresolved.
- Participates in orientation and training of staff.
- Provides preparatory instructions and explanation of procedures to patients.
- Documentation is concise, legible and includes precise terminology.
- Reads daily email and follows through with assignments.
- Completes mandatory departmental and hospital‑wide education without prompting.
Quality Control
- Consistently produces acceptable images based on radiologist feedback and quality audits.
- Ensures equipment is operational by checking calibration and operating deficiencies prior to each use.
- Sends all studies to PACS immediately after completion; prints CDs as needed.
- Prints and scans after‑hours teleradiography studies into PACS when applicable.
- Completes all studies in RIS before completing in PACS.
- Prints completed teleradiography log sheet and submits to Radiologist when applicable.
Operations
- Restocks linens and supplies; maintains a clean and orderly department.
- Transports, positions and assists patients on and off the procedure table.
- Performs patient charging activities on the day of service.
- Applies shielding, supportive and immobilization devices.
- Willingly lends knowledge and assistance to others as needed and when time allows.
- Performs clerical and support duties to ensure continuity and quality of services.
- Keeps supervisor informed on all responsibilities and promptly reports problems or potential issues.
- Maintains individual productivity equal to coworkers.
- Operates all workstations associated with the CT department.
- Pushes/retrieves images from the CT console to PACS.
- Maintains Joint Commission and all regulatory agency standards.
- Takes call when necessary.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education
- Graduate of AMA‑approved School of Radiology Technology — Required
Required Minimum Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology — Required
- Less than 1 year experience in CT — Preferred

- ARRT Radiography — Required
- ARRT Computed Tomography — Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association — Required
