Position Summary:

The Senior DBA is responsible for managing and maintaining Oracle and SQL databases, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role is a team lead to the support DBAs, developing database standards, troubleshooting issues, and improving support processes.

Work You Will Do:

  • Manage and maintain Oracle and SQL databases to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability.

  • Monitor database performance, back-ups and other key items using Nagios and custom monitoring scripts.

  • Develop and implement database standards and infrastructure.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues and provide technical support for the database environment.

  • Write and maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for the data dictionary.

  • Develop and implement custom monitoring scripts to enhance database performance monitoring.

  • Day to Day support of DBAs, providing guidance, training, and mentorship.

  • Work on projects as needed, providing database expertise.

  • Improve database support processes to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Ensure database strategies and processes comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of proven experience as a DBA with expertise in Oracle and SQL databases.

  • Experience with Nagios or similar database monitoring tools.

  • Proficiency in writing custom monitoring scripts.

  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills.

  • Proven track record of improving support processes and enhancing database performance.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
