The Role:

As a member of the IT Infrastructure team leadership, you will provide provide hands-on and managerial support for all technical networking support and and architecture. Your primary role will be the enterprise-wide Service Owner for Networking responsible for day-to-day technical support for our LAN, WAN, & Wifi systems. You will own and manage the networking standards for the enterprise to include updating, routine scheduled updates & emergency patching.  A peer on the Infrastructure leadership would be the Senior IT Support Manager II – Servers. Together, these two roles own and manage the global enterprise IT Infrastructure for Silicon Labs.

Senior IT Support Manager II – Networking Responsibilities:

Overview:

  • Responsible to oversee and conduct monthly maintenance on all network devices with minimum disruption to business enterprise production
  • Oversee deployment, application deployment, configuration, set policy, conduct maintenance, and enforce security on networking devices across global organization
  • Maintain vendor relationships, identify areas for improvement, track industry trends, and advise Infrastructure team on equipment selection.
  • Monitor networking infrastructure and resolve issues and errors
  • Collaborate with others within the Infrastructure Team as well as the Application Support teams on design and strategy
  • Participate in maintenance and incident response functions and respond promptly to network and system problems
  • Provide regular status and project updates to leadership including regular trends and statistics related to systems and overall health and metrics of the current network
  • Must be able to work outside of standard business hours. This position requires, on occasion, the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers
  • Work closely with the Silicon Labs SecOps team to ensure services remain secure and available
  • Follow up with client, provide feedback and see problems through to resolution

  • Extensive work experience in global enterprise environment with diverse & global team members
  • Effectively plan, allocate, reclaim and conserve private and public ip address space for Silicon Labs and its partners
  • Participate in requirement gathering calls from business owners, clearly understand and document requirements, suggest solutions in line with Silicon Labs standards, work with technical teams, ensure the solutions are delivered on time and documented in Confluence
  • Clear the roadblocks for network team by working with lateral teams and senior management
  • Articulate critical technical ideas/solutions to the network team, upper management,  peers and larger audience
  • Showcase the progress, contribution of the team to management using presentations, dashboards and  metrics.
  • Make connections with cross functional teams and explore the tools and solutions available with them and see how they can contribute to the network improvement and automation
  • Work closely with project management office (PMO) to brainstorm the solutions, providing the technical support, highlighting the risks, etc.
  • Understand the Silicon Labs nature of business (IoT), identify and propose the infrastructure, security architectures industry best practices and ensure we are on par with standards
  • Follow the management and business directions closely and think ahead to plan the network infrastructure to support near future business needs

  

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred (preferably in Computer Science, or information Technology / Engineering), with Relevant field experience
  • Min 8-12 yrs of HANDs-ON experience in enterprise level network security & engineering specific experience
  • Experience with Palo Alto, Arista, Ruckus, SolarWinds Orion
  • Co-located Datacenter Design and Operations
  • Advanced Understanding of LAN, WAN, Wireless, OSPF, BGP, Spanning Tree
  • Experience with administering and troubleshooting SD-Wan
  • Active CCNP or better certification
  • Extensive Packet Capture experience – fluent with Wireshark or equivalent toolset
  • Aryaka SD-Wan experience
  • IPV6
  • Panorama experience
  • Fortinet – FortiNAC – Network Access Control
  • Programming / Scripting background with knowledge of Python, REST API and Ansible
  • Experience with DevOps tool suites; examples include Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Jenkins, Concourse etc.
  • The ability to take complex technical concepts and present them to a range of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Can work independently with minimal instruction on day-to-day work
  • Ability to set priorities for and execute projects

  • Additional Preferred Experience as a part of Enterprise IT:
  • Communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel
  • Act as participant in the development of information technology and infrastructure projects
  • Conduct training programs designed to keep Networking Team and Infrastructure team updated on networking technology roadmaps
  • Triage, diagnose and/or transfer work requests and incidents to appropriate groups
  • Work on complex technical issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Determine best methods and procedures on new assignments and will coordinate activities with other personnel
  • Manage the network team’s ticket backlog and day-to-day IT netwroking activities
