Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership
Champion a safe work environment by enforcing all safety standards, policies, and compliance requirements.
Lead daily reviews, pre-job, mid-job, and post-job meetings to ensure safety and job accuracy.
Conduct floor inspections to verify JHA controls and update risk assessments.
Facilitate regular safety meetings and ensure employees maintain required safety training.
People Leadership
Provide day-to-day leadership: recruitment, onboarding, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
Drive employee engagement and development through regular feedback and growth opportunities.
Quality – Service Right the First Time
Spend 80% of time on the shop floor ensuring scope accuracy and timely communication.
Resolve tooling, parts, and technical issues promptly to meet customer commitments.
Manage repair processes, warranty assessments, and inspection reviews to maintain high standards.
Productivity
Assign jobs and monitor technician productivity.
Manage workforce allocation and job progression, providing guidance and prioritization.
Conduct mid-job reviews and communicate changes effectively.
Accountabilities
Deliver safety targets (SIFpre, Sifpo,LTI) and implement audit action plans.
Foster a positive, high-performing team environment aligned with operational goals.
Ensure accurate timecards, SOP adherence, warranty documentation, and core returns.
Achieve KPIs across Customer (NPS), People (engagement), Financial (variance, rework), and Safety metrics.
Experience & Education Requirements
Minimum 3–5+ years of proven leadership and supervisory experience, with a demonstrated ability to develop and motivate high-performing teams.
Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification required.
At least 4 years of hands-on experience working with Caterpillar equipment in both construction and mining environments.
Strong understanding of operational and financial drivers, with the ability to interpret KPIs and manage branch profitability effectively.
In-depth knowledge of Caterpillar products, warranty administration, contamination control practices, Pre Task Assessments (PTA), and applicable safety codes.
Familiarity with collective agreements, performance management processes, and principles of high-performance leadership considered an asset.
