The Enterprise Data & Digital Architect will be responsible for managing The Hartford's data & digital architecture Patterns & Standards and setting the strategic direction for the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have an advanced understanding of data architectures and digital platforms, as well as experience in large-scale data modernization and migration from an on-premises deployments to the cloud. You should have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to effectively share your knowledge. This individual will have the responsibility for the enterprise roadmap to advance the data & digital technology architecture and will ensure that the appropriate considerations are made for Agility, Security, Operational Efficiency, Quality, and leverage of cloud-native capabilities. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the data & digital investments are aligned to the organization's technology and governance strategies, policies, and standards.
This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office location (Hartford, CT; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.
Responsibilities:
- This person acts as a key liaison between the data & digital solution architecture teams and other enterprise architecture functions (e.g., application, cloud, infrastructure EA functions)
- Define architecture strategies and approaches to guide the development, deployment, and adoption of secure, reliable, and scalable digital and data solutions across the Enterprise.
- Author re-useable solution architecture patterns enabling the end-to-end data flows from source to use for various use cases such as reporting and analytics to real-time integrations.
- Make it easy for engineers to find and implement appropriate and approved solution patterns solving their business partners most pressing and complex needs.
- Cultivate and lead communities of practice that evangelize the benefits and promote the adoption of re-useable solution patterns, along with establishing a feedback mechanism for continuous improvement and iterations of such patterns.
- Partner with LOB aligned Solution Architecture to build out templatized solution patterns and architecture-as-code primitives that accelerate delivery and promote Enterprise-wide adoption of standards and reusable solution components of foundational capabilities such as security, observability, and resilience.
- Define solutions to maximize investments in Enterprise data platforms and their capabilities to minimize technology capability sprawl and complexity.
- Research industry, market, vendor technology trends to identify impactful emerging technology trends for evaluation and future application.
- Partner with Data Engineering and Platform Leadership to execute technology tooling and platform evaluations to ensure consistent, methodical, and efficient reviews as part of technology adoption framework.
- Collaborate effectively across the organization to co-create and drive the adoption of enterprise architecture strategies.
- Connect enterprise architecture strategies to business strategies and outcomes making it easy for LOB leaders across the Enterprise to understand required capabilities, investments, roadmaps, and drive adoption.
- Document and assess the current state of the data and technology landscape to identify gaps, pain points, and business drivers and develop the future state vision for the landscape that will solve for those needs.
- Lead the data architecture forums and provide SME input to architectural decisions.
- Lead to provide world-class customer experience through digital channels.
- Provide vision & thought leadership to define technology strategy for the Digital domain.
- May have supervisory responsibility in instructing, assigning, directing, and checking the work of the resources within their section/department.
- Assists management with investment prioritization and architecture metrics at the Enterprise level.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Prior experience with large-scale data & digital platforms.
- Experience with delivery methodologies such as Agile and SCRUM.
- Negotiation skills and ability to influence others by educating and sharing information.
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
- Migration of legacy data solutions to cloud is a plus.
- Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture.
- Expert knowledge of computing architectures.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture discipline and frameworks.
- Strong understanding of Snowflake environment and ETL tools.
- Building and maintaining relationships with enterprise leaders to understand current and emerging business needs.
- Leading, influencing, and driving change across the enterprise with experience transforming large organizations.
- Bachelor’s degree required (or experience equivalent)
- 10+ years’ experience managing and directing medium to large-scale, multi-project digital & data teams, or equivalent combination of education and work experience, ideally within the insurance and financial services industry.
- Demonstrated complex planning, conceptual, consulting and communication skills, analytical ability, strong judgment, and management skills.
- Ability to interact with senior Hartford line of business area, IT management, and staff.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$180,000 - $270,000
