DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

Essential Functions:

• Prepares and submits claims to various companies either electronically or via paper. Verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors.
• Maintains patient demographic information and data in EMR systems.
• Verify insurance eligibility for medical insurance by utilizing online websites or by contacting the carriers directly.
• Participates in trainings and attends staff meetings.
• Maintains strict confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
• Computer skills, working knowledge of (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, e-mail software).
• Ability to be very flexible in accepting department assignments.
• Skill and ability to function effectively and calmly in an unpredictable or stressful environment.
• Participates in Quality Improvement. 
• Completes mail to assigned clients
• If applicable calling on payment status
• If applicable working on unknown files
• Complies with protocols in place
