Job Description Summary:

Provides quality swim instruction in accordance with the Logan Health Medical Fitness Center (LHMFC) policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of sixteen (16) years of age required.
  • Must successfully complete the LHMFC Swim Instructor training within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Heart Saver AED CPR preferred or must successfully obtain with in sixty (60) days of hire.
  • Nationally recognized aquatic swim instructor certification preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Provides quality swim instruction following the guidelines and swim progressions as established by LHMFC.
  • Provides a safe environment for students and reviews safety rules per department protocol.
  • Teaches class using proper technique. Utilizes the show, tell and kinesthetic teaching methods.
  • Teaches skills to reflect the goals for the particular age level. Uses consistent terminology and age appropriate language.
  • Exhibits good class management skills. Prepares lesson plans and ensures lessons are productive and fun. Keeps the students attention throughout the entire class and focuses on the skills to be achieved.
  • Keeps the pool area clean and organized. Informs aquatic leadership of repairs needed.
  • Performs life saving duties as trained and as necessary and exhibits knowledge of the emergency action plan.

Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week.  Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
