What you will do:

As Program Manager I, you will be responsible for managing new product development programs through the stage-gate development process for the Chiller Product Business Unit.  You will use your technical skills and project management knowledge to manage projects with some supervision and will be considered knowledgeable on matters related to program management. 

How you will do it:

  • Lead cross-functional and regionally distributed teams through JCI’s stage-gate development process.
  • Initiate, plan, and execute programs to deliver benefits according to established targets for budget, quality, performance, and time to market.
  • Lead teams through scope discovery and decomposition to develop detailed execution and resource plans.
  • Manage and optimize the collaboration of core, extended and support team members, contractors, or consultants to ensure programs are delivered as planned.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate project team members to take positive action and accountability for assigned work.
  • Create and deliver progress reports, presentations and project status updates via project scoreboards/dashboards, management reviews, and project team meetings.
  • Proactively identify and resolve significant risks and issues within the project team.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path(s).
  • Collaborate with other program managers, functional managers, and executive leadership to accomplish program objectives.
  • Leverage best practices to improve project execution and management.

What we look for:

Required

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience in project management and/or leading technical teams/projects in a functional management role
  • Experience creating and managing a schedule, assigning project tasks, facilitating project meetings and formulating resource plans.
  • Experience with managing local or regionally distributed cross functional project teams.
  • Practical experience with project management planning tools (such as Microsoft Project) and the Microsoft O365 software suite.
  • Ability to travel (5% or less) internationally for the purpose of meeting with team members, stakeholders, or off-site personnel and management.
  • Familiarity with stage-gate development

Ideal or Preferred

  • Experience with managing globally distributed cross functional project teams.
  • 2 or more years of direct experience leading projects through stage-gate product development
  • Knowledge or direct experience within the HVAC industry
  • Experience using collaboration platforms (e.g. Microsoft Teams) and work management platforms (e.g. Daptiv, Smartsheet, Wrike)
