We are seeking a dedicated, skilled, and detail-oriented Screening Media Operator to join our team, specializing in open cast operations within Screening Media Operations.

The role will report into the Screening Media Production Manager.  The role will be based at our facility in Crown Mines, Johannesburg.

Purpose of the role:

  • Under general direction, the staff member is responsible for the setup, calibration, and operation of machines used in production processes, including the operation of open cast machines (Polyurethane). The role involves following established procedures to select and measure raw materials and parts to specifications, operate machinery, read drawings, build and set up moulds, and ensure production output and quality at the assigned workstation. The employee will resolve production and machinery issues, perform minor maintenance, and maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with 5S housekeeping standards.

The job responsibilities:

  • Set up, calibrate, and operate open cast machines (Polyurethane) following established procedures.
  • Select, measure, and prepare raw materials and parts to meet production specifications.
  • Read drawings and build and set up moulds as required for production processes.
  • Ensure correct and safe use of tools and equipment in the working area.
  • Inspect machining operations and finished products against specified tolerances using precision measuring tools.
  • Identify, segregate, and report non-conforming products.
  • Resolve production, machinery, processing, and/or packaging issues as they arise.
  • Perform minor machine troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and cleaning.
  • Complete Works Orders and provide accurate KPI (Key Performance Indicator) information.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with 5S standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying potential problems and proposing solutions with support.
  • Complete additional tasks as required.
  • Important Performance Indicators:
  • Timely completion of work as per production plan.
  • Proactive identification of issues and effective problem-solving for continuous improvement.
  • Consistent achievement of quality and output targets at the workstation.
  • Responsible to operate within the health and safety requirements as prescribed by the Company and OHSAct.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Trade certificate - Boilermaker
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar field.
  • Substantial experience within injection moulding and polyurethane moulding industry.
