Job Summary: The Senior Manager, Fixed Asset & Lease Accounting is a strategic and hands‑on leader responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of fixed assets and lease accounting across a multi‑entity, multi-location organization. This role currently manages one individual with future possible team of up to 3-5. This positions also indirectly manages the relationships of over 20 finance professionals performing fixed asset and lease accounting tasks at the company specific locations. This position will ensure accurate capitalization, depreciation, lease classification, and reporting in accordance with US GAAP, including ASC 360 and ASC 842. The Senior Manager also plays a key role in purchase accounting for future Mergers & Acquisitions, system integrations, and ERP transformations. This position requires deep technical expertise of GAAP concepts, including strong software skills (Sage), strong leadership, and the ability to drive process improvements across a complex asset portfolio exceeding $2 billion.

Job Responsibilities:

Fixed Asset Accounting Leadership

  • Direct and oversee all fixed asset accounting activities across multiple companies, subsidiaries and complexes, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and corporate policies.
  • Manage the end‑to‑end lifecycle of fixed assets, including acquisitions, capitalizations, depreciation, transfers, impairments, and disposals.
  • Review and approve journal entries, rollforwards, reconciliations, and financial reporting related to fixed assets.
  • Maintain and enhance the fixed asset subledger and supporting schedules within Sage and other ERP systems.

ASC 842 Lease Accounting

  • Lead the accounting and reporting for all leases under ASC 842, including classification, ROU asset and liability recognition, remeasurements, and modifications.
  • Oversee the completeness and accuracy of lease data within the lease accounting system.
  • Partner with Legal, Procurement, and Operations to ensure proper identification and documentation of lease arrangements.
  • Prepare and review monthly lease journal entries, amortization schedules, and related disclosures.

Purchase Accounting & M&A Support

  • Support and lead fixed asset and lease components of purchase accounting for future acquisitions.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Accounting, FP&A, and external valuation specialists to ensure accurate fair value measurement of acquired assets and leases.
  • Oversee integration of acquired fixed assets and leases into the company’s systems and processes.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a current team of 1, with possible future team of 3–5 fixed asset and lease accounting professionals.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, provide coaching, and build a high‑performing, collaborative team environment.
  • Oversee workload planning, cross‑training, and process ownership across the team.

Controls, Compliance & Process Optimization

  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over fixed asset and lease accounting processes.
  • Update policies and procedures to reflect evolving standards, system changes, and best practices.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Systems, Integrations & ERP Transformation
  • Serve as the fixed asset and lease accounting lead for system upgrades, integrations, and ERP implementations.
  • Oversee data migration, process mapping, system configuration, and user acceptance testing for fixed asset and lease modules.
  • Collaborate with IT, project management, and external consultants to ensure system functionality aligns with GAAP and business requirements.

Intercompany & MultiEntity Accounting

  • Oversee and review intercompany fixed asset and lease transactions across multiple entities and general ledger systems.
  • Ensure proper elimination entries and consolidation support for corporate reporting.)

Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in fixed asset and lease accounting, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Extensive hands‑on experience with Sage Fixed Assets, Sage Intacct, or similar ERP fixed asset and lease modules.
  • Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting and purchase accounting for acquisitions is required.
  • Experience with multi‑company environments and complex intercompany structures

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 360 and ASC 842.
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits, including fixed asset and lease testing.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling; macros a plus).
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team in a fast‑paced, multi‑entity environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across Finance, IT, Operations, and Executive Leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and lead through change

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • This role is a Leader of People role and will manage a team with two or more full-time employees 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required;
  • Certifications: CPA or MBA strongly preferred
