About the Role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Pharmacist Assistant to support clinical trial supply operations in South Africa. This role sits within our Clinical Trials Division and helps ensure clinical trial materials are received, stored, handled, documented, and distributed in line with applicable pharmacy, quality, and regulatory requirements.

This is a hands-on role for someone with strong attention to detail, sound knowledge of Good Pharmacy Practice and Good Wholesale Practice, and the ability to work accurately in a regulated warehouse and clinical supply environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end warehousing activities for clinical trial supplies, including receipt, storage, handling, distribution, returns, and documentation.

• Ensure compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice, Good Wholesale Practice, current Good Manufacturing Practice, and applicable regulatory requirements.

• Maintain accurate documentation for pharmaceutical products, including controlled substances where applicable.

• Support drug accountability and proper inventory control.

• Assist with import and export requirements for clinical study products.

• Support cold chain and environmental monitoring activities to ensure products are stored under required conditions.

• Work with internal teams and stakeholders to investigate quality-related issues.

• Participate in self-inspections, quality checks, and continuous improvement activities.

• Follow site procedures and safety requirements, including the use of required personal protective equipment.

• Support a compliant, organized, and audit-ready warehouse environment.

Must-Have Requirements

• Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification.

• Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council.

• Knowledge of Good Pharmacy Practice and Good Wholesale Practice.

• Experience working with pharmaceutical products in a regulated environment.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.

• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in clinical trial supplies, pharmaceutical warehousing, or distribution.

• Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practice requirements.

• Experience with quality assurance systems and regulatory requirements.

• Experience handling controlled substances and maintaining required records.

• Knowledge of import/export requirements for clinical study products.

• Experience with cold chain, temperature-controlled storage, or environmental monitoring.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 kg.

• Ability to work in a warehouse environment.

• Ability to stand for extended periods.

• Ability to work in walk-in refrigerators or freezers when required.

• Ability to use required personal protective equipment.
