The Technology – Product Engineering group at Thomson Reuters, Bangalore provides systems development and support for the content processing needs of Westlaw. The group oversees and executes a wide range of project types, ranging from cost-saving infrastructure to revenue-driving product development initiatives. We are looking for a highly motivated, innovative, and detailed oriented individual who will make an impact on a large-scale, enterprise-wide initiative to serve as a Software Engineer with primary responsibilities on this team. The efforts expected in this position include the support of existing capabilities as well as the development of new capabilities to support new product development initiatives and major infrastructure initiatives
 

About the role:

In this opportunity as Associate Software Engineer, you will:

  • As a Associate Software Engineer at Thomson Reuters, you will collaborate with technical leaders, peer SSEs, SEs, Quality Engineers and Managers to successfully develop, execute, support test with ability to analyze issues. Report issues found during developement and testing.
  • We are seeking suitable candidate for Associate Software Engineer position with about 0 years to 2 years of developmemt in Java and Angular experience
  • Work with team members such as Tech. Lead, Software Developers, PMs to ensure high quality outcome of your deliverables
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, iteration meetings
  • Write Code, Fix bugs using Development code branch
  • Report deviations of quality to the development team
  • Detect defects and create informative bug reports and effectively follow up on bug closure 
  • Work on all bugs and issues assigned to you
  • Keep the QA systems updated with relevant data and configurations to ensure effective testing
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects with setting priorities to complete tasks within set timeline
  • Be proactive about development and resolving issues

About you:

You're a fit for the role of Associate Software Engineer if your background includes:

    • Sound knowledge and understanding of internet protocols and web technologies
    • Good programming language knowledge with strong coding knowledge – Java, J2EE.
    • Ability to work with software developers and discuss technical issues in detail
    • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development
    • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them in to code
    • Good knowledge and experience working with relational databases (MS SQL, Oracle)
    • Hands-on experience with Source Control and CD/CI systems such as TFS/Git and Jenkins
    • Good knowledge and experience working with Web Services and RESTFUL APIs
    • Excellent communication skills
